Like many young women of her generation, Barb married young and had three children at an early age. She finished an undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 2.5 years; she then earned a master’s in education at the University of Puget Sound. For the next 10 years, Barb taught school and earned her K-12 Administrative certification, became a Junior High School Vice Principal and then an Elementary School Principal. She then earned an MBA in Computer Science and Marketing allowing for a move to industry. The next 15 years were spent doing two things: developing/buying new products or developing and leading sales and marketing organizations for small to mid-sized companies. She was recruited to become an SAP consultant with Whittman Hart, a Chicago based consulting firm. For the next 10 years, she managed all phases of SAP projects from module implementation to engagement management. She was hired by my final client, a Fortune 500 company, to run their global e-business which she did until I retired the first time.
In retirement, Barb returned to her first love, teaching. It was pure joy and she taught 8th graders Algebra until a final retirement and move to Trilogy. She has always been involved and supports the TPR Foundation because she believes in the mission and because it supports a community of citizens who are spread across the southeast valley.
