2024 Annual Report

Mission Statement: The TPR Foundation partners with community organizations to improve the health, well-being and quality of life for seniors in the Southeast Valley, including Trilogy at Power Ranch.
Commentary on 2024:
The Foundation celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2024, and the Board took the occasion to self-assess, to determine what needed to be changed, and to set a course for improvements to better carry out the group’s mission.
The Board decided unanimously that our outdated website needed to be revamped. That effort concluded in December with a completely revamped website. We think it does a much-improved job of sharing information about our efforts to support seniors and our partnerships throughout the Southeast Valley. We are hopeful that the new website will lead to increased involvement of diverse individuals who have talents that may help the Foundation grow stronger.
Another effort to broaden the Foundation’s appeal and reach was the creation of associate board memberships. Those accepting this new position will be empowered to represent the Board to complete task-specific responsibilities. For example, an associate Board member might be responsible for developing a marketing plan to highlight an event of the Foundation, run a specific fund-raising project or even assist with website management.
Other 2024 activities included:
- The Board brought new thinking to the Tranquility Garden in Trilogy, an effort to memorialize friends or loved ones of Trilogy residents. Previously, the honorees’ names were engraved in bricks which paved part of the garden area. But the bricks were not weathering well and diminished the appeal and use of the garden. In a new direction, the Board approved a new Tree of Life metal sculpture. Going forward, the tree’s leaves will be engraved with honorees’ names – both names transferred from the eroding bricks and new names of future honorees. A special thank-you from the Board goes to the Dakota Group (a social group of Trilogy residents with ties to North Dakota and South Dakota), which purchased the artwork. The Tree of Life sculpture was dedicated in November 2024.
- The Board ended its long-standing efforts to place benches around the Trilogy community after the Trilogy Community Association said that an adequate number had been established. These benches give walkers/exercisers a place rest or wind down, and occasionally serve as impromptu gathering spots for Trilogy residents. They were funded in part by donations from residents who wanted to memorialize a friend or loved one, and each carries a small plaque honoring that person.
- The Foundation continued to donate funds to support a variety of Southeast Valley organizations that align with the Foundation’s mission. Examples include:
- AZCEND, whose services to the disadvantaged include a home-delivered meals program, commonly referred to as Meals on Wheels. Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Center.
- ROSE, Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly, whose efforts include educational seminars to help protect seniors from financial fraud.
- Tempe Community Action Agency’s efforts to provide emergency support to displaced seniors in our area.
- The Trilogy at Power Ranch Community Association’s decision to improve the availability of automatic external defibrillators, or AEDs.
The year ended with the resignation of long-time Board members Rodger Page and Rich Johnson. Each served many years in various positions, which will continue as each has agreed to continue as associate members. The Board thanks them for their insights and guidance over the years.
