TPR FOUNDATION HAPPENINGS

Rodger Page, Director

As you will see in the program updates below, the Foundation has been busy preparing for the fall season. We thought it might be good to highlight some of the projects we have supported thus far this year. R.O.S.E (Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly) has been supported by the Foundation for the past two years. With the funds contributed by the Foundation, they have been able to present several meetings about the various frauds and scams being used to solicit money from senior citizens. Several presentations have been made in Trilogy and at the Chandler and Gilbert Senior Centers. They also send out a free monthly newsletter to those who request them. Linda Eliason is preparing a newsletter for new residents as an introduction to the TPR Foundation. We have approximately 51 new residents in Trilogy from January-June 2024. We still have one memorial bench available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will sell this bench at our cost of $1,800. Please contact me (480-540-1494) if interested.

Update on Foundation Programs and Events:

 October Wine Tasting Event:

The next Wine Tasting event will be held at Slate’s Bistro and Bar on Monday, October 28th from 4-6:00 PM. Tastings paired with heavy appetizers will be provided with a sommelier available to educate guests on the varieties of wine offered. Tickets for this event will be available at the Members Services front desk beginning on August 17th.  at a cost of $60 per person. Checks must be made out to the TPR Foundation. Auctions, raffles, and 50/50 fun will be available. At the request of many of our past guests, the tables will be more intimate with SIX guests signed up per table. Ten tables will be available. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Website Redesign

The new TPR Foundation website is coming soon, with a projected September launch date. Over the summer, Foundation volunteers have been busy working with Firespring, a company specializing in web development (and more) for non-profit organizations to create a new informative, functional, and responsive website that will enable us to communicate our mission to a broader audience. One of the most attractive features of the website is the events calendar. In addition to an interactive calendar linking to key information about each activity, the calendar will allow for seamless on-line registration for fund-raising events such as the annual golf tournament and wine tastings. It will also encourage volunteer efforts by allowing on-line registration for contributions of your time and effort. Firespring also provides training to Foundation volunteers to enable us to make our own revisions, allowing us to keep the site current. If you have some basic computer skills and are interested in helping, please contact Linda Anderson (landerson28@cox.net).

Tree of Life Sculpture

The Foundation continues to move forward with the Tree of Life sculpture. The engraver has been given a list of names of the 60 pavers that are currently in the Tranquility Garden. These names and inscriptions will be the first leaves that are installed on the tree. As previously noted, we are accepting applications for leaves to be inscribed and installed on the tree. The leaves cost $200, and applications can be obtained by contacting Linda Anderson at 480-688-9551 or landerson28@cox.net. A dedication of the Tree of Life is planned for November 16, 2024, in the Tranquility Garden at 8:30 AM. Further details will follow as we get closer to that date.

Golf Fundraising Event

The fall golf event is currently being planned and will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Power Ranch Golf Club. Fred Williams is coordinating the event this year. The format is being changed because we are scheduled for a December date. The most obvious changes are that there is only one tee time (8;30 AM), the event will be limited to 144 golfers, and we will have a few on-course games. The price for this event remains at $130 per golfer. Registration will begin in September. The new website will have provisions for registration when completed.

The Foundation’s Mission: To work in partnership with community organizations to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for senior adults living in the Southeast Valley communities, including Trilogy at Power Ranch.
