TPR Foundations Happenings

As we hit the midpoint of the summer and the monsoon reigns in full force, the Foundation Board is hard at work preparing for a busy fall season.

Work is being done to modernize the website, the golf event committee is busy planning for the fall golf tournament, the Tree of Life committee is working on transcribing the existing pavers onto leaves on the sculpture, and the Wine Tasting committee is planning the fall wine tasting event. To accomplish this work, we continue to add individuals interested in volunteering as an Associate to the Board. Associates will be given the first opportunity for Board positions as they become available if interested in such a position. These are non-voting positions that assist the Board in developing, promoting, and organizing activities to improve the life of senior citizens in the East Valley. If you have questions or need information, you may contact Rodger Page (480-540-1494) by call or text or by email (rodgerpage@hotmail.com).

Donations at Work

In January we donated $10,000 to AZCEND in support of their home-delivered meals among other donations made possible by your participation and donations to our fundraising events. We recently received a thank you letter from AZCEND stating that our donation helped serve 181 clients In April, AZCEND staff and volunteers delivered 3,195 meals to the homes of Gilbert residents including homes here in Trilogy at Power Ranch.

Website Redesign

The Foundation is in the process of redesigning and improving the capabilities of our website.  As our website is under repair, it may not always be available for use. The updating of the website will enhance the quality and provide a wider range of information and means to signup for activities online as well as a means of receiving donations through the website. Firespring will provide our website structure. They will also provide training to individuals who will operate the website. We would like to have at least three individuals to receive this training to ensure someone is available that can keep the website updated. We currently need volunteers with computer skills and experience to help with the redesign and management of the website. Interested individuals may contact Linda Anderson (480-688-9551 for information. Qualified individuals must submit a resume prior to an interview with the Board. Our website may be unavailable at times over the summer as work is in progress, but feel free to contact any Board member with questions.

Tree of Life Sculpture

The Tree of Life sculpture in the Tranquility Garden is in place and leaves are currently being inscribed to be placed on the tree. Order forms will be available at the kiosk in the Clubhouse at a cost of $200 per leaf for those wishing to memorialize family or friends. Questions may be addressed to Linda Anderson (480-688-9551). Donations to cover costs of the sculpture will be accepted. A dedication ceremony for the sculpture will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 9:00 AM.

Mix & Mingle

The TPR Foundation held its first MIX AND MINGLE event on March 7, 2024 in the Trilogy Café as an invitation to the residents of Trilogy at Power Ranch to meet the five agencies of the Southeast Valley that receive donations from the Foundation.

Representatives from the five charities (Hospice of the Valley Dementia Center, AZCEND, R.O.S.E. (Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly), Dignity Health and Tempe Community Action Agency) met individually with Trilogy residents about their own mission statements and explained how the TPRF’s support helps them achieve their own goals.  Each beneficiary was provided a separate space to prepare their exposure time.  Most brought handouts, photos, and other items as evidence of their activities for seniors in the SE Valley.

Light appetizers provided by Creative Hands Cuisine were available as well as a choice of wines and/or teas.  The event was attended by approximately 50 people and was deemed a success by the Foundation organizers and the various representatives.

March Wine Tasting

Fifty-seven guests attended the March 25th wine tasting event at Slate’s Bistro and Bar. The event featured Rodney Strong wines paired with delicious appetizers prepared by chef Anton. The Rodney Strong Winery is from Sonoma, California. Miriam Sluder, TPR Foundation President, was the speaker for the evening providing an update on recent donations to Southeast Valley communities and discussed the new updated Tranquility Garden and Tree of Life sculpture sponsored by the Foundation. Guests participated in a live auction bringing in $1,490. Red raffle tickets brought in $440 and the 50/50 was won by Marcy Stanczyk who kindly donated a generous portion of her winnings to the Foundation. Slate donated $305 to the Foundation from the sale of bottles of wine purchased by the guests. Auction items included various themed wine baskets, a golf foursome from Springfield Golf Club, and a golf foursome from Bear Creek Golf Club. Raffle prizes included a breakfast for two from The Nook, 2 Quilters’ wine baskets, 2 Fire Candles, and Coffee and Dessert for four at the Collin St. Bakery. Other prizes given out included a Slate wine basket, 3 bottles of wine, 3 plants, a $50 Vito’s gift card, an El Bella Spa $50 gift card, and TPR Foundation cups and hats. 22 different individuals went home with some kind of prize. Save the date of October 28th for our next wine tasting event. As always, we thank the community for their tremendous support of our programs.

Memorial Bench Program

Rising prices and limited available spaces to place benches has forced us to discontinue the Memorial Bench Program in Trilogy at Power Ranch. We currently have 33 benches in place around the community. At this time, we have only one bench available for purchase on a first come, first served basis. Call Rodger Page (480-540-1494) for information or to reserve the last bench. We appreciate everyone who participated in this program for making it such a successful project.

Dakota Group Donation

The Dakota Social Group from Trilogy at Power Ranch donated $2000 raised at their annual potluck gathering on February 24th. The donation will support the new Tree of Life project in the Tranquility Garden at Trilogy. TPR Foundation president Miriam Sluder and project director Mike Larson spoke to the group about the project.

Proceeds from two special raffle items were designated for donations to the Foundation. One raffle ticket represented a weekend in Medora, North Dakota, including the Medora Musical, Pitchfork Fondue and lodging at the Rough Riders Hotel.  A second raffle ticket  was sold for a golf outing for two at the Bully Pulpit Golf Course, also in Medora. Pat Kilber and Candace Deitz spearheaded these efforts, and along with other members of the Dakota group sold tickets for these items plus other items gifted for raffle.
